Shut Up and Sing
by Barbara Kopple and Cecilia Peck (2006, 93 minutes)

What comes to mind when you think of country music? How about death threats and boycotts? Noted documentarian Barbara Kopple travels with the Dixie Chicks and explores what happened when singer Natalie Maines made an onstage anti-Bush crack at the beginning of the Iraq war. Far from didactic, this is a candid and entertaining look at freedom of speech and the business of music.
